Four hundred years after its establishment in 1594 as a refuge for poor people and pilgrims from the former 17 provinces of the Netherlands belonging to the Spanish Monarchy in the 16th and 17th centuries; today Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Northern France, the Charles of Antwerp Foundation continues to promote the culture of these territories in Spain and to maintain close ties with them, through activities such as temporary exhibitions, children’s workshops, conferences, research projects and cultural tourism, and lectures on the past, present and future of Europe.
The Foundation has a historic headquarters in the Barrio de Salamanca in Madrid, an unbeatable area. The management team has 4 professionals, in addition to the board of trustees and external advisors.
