Located 47 rue des Bergers, at the heart of Paris’s 15th district in a 7000 square building entirely dedicated to the arts and their practices, the ACTE Institute (ACTE meaning Art, Creation, Theory, Aesthetics) plans to bring together researchers from different artistic disciplines in the field of theory as well as practice. Its scientific project focuses on four interrelated dimensions divided into: creation, conceptualization, reception and distribution. Among the different disciplines of the ACTE Institute are: visual and fine arts, film and audiovisual studies, performance, design and industrial design, media and multimedia, aesthetics and philosophy of art, cultural studies, semiotics and poïetics. The four dimensions, Creation, Conceptualization, Reception and Distribution, permit each researcher, each research line and each transversal program to position themselves, develop and build partnerships, without being required to limit themselves to a single discipline.

The ACTE Institute’s research is focused on five main areas: – Arts, Sciences and Society, – Cinema and conditions of the images, – Design-arts-media, – Aesthetics and critical theories of culture, – Plasticity. Spaces, bodies, temporalities, sounds.
